Pink Champagne

Tuesday, July 31st, 2007

So a friend of mine had her champagne birthday this month, and I decided to make her a gift. Her party was themed Pink Champagne as pink is her favorite color. Of course, I had to make the gift appropriately matchy.

Fluff ‘N Stuff

Friday, July 27th, 2007

So I finally used my spinning wheel after lending it to my sis for a while. She gave it back a long, long time ago, but I haven’t been using is due to laziness and moving factor. But I was so pleased with the way this one ply Blue Face Leicester fluff came out that I have to show it. The color was “Deep Sea.” This is mostly a pic post, so bear with me.

Also, I recently purchased more jewelry tools that gives me the power to solder! Scary, but true. I was able to make this 34″ sterling silver chain with shell beads with it. Super fun! It’s hard to see in the pic, but the coating on the shell beads give it a cool fuschia, teal, red, navy iridescent thing.

It’s been a fun and creative week for me.

Apparently, my cat wanted to play while I was playing amateur photographer. She is adorable!

Potter World

Thursday, July 26th, 2007

To any who would mock the Girl that Reads, leave off because this stuff is good. :) Okay, so I just finished the final chapter of Harry Potter, and I am sad that it is over. Normally I re-read all of the books from 1 to the end, but I made the mistake of going to the movies with a friend and seeing the 5th installment on Monday. This made me want to read the 7th book immediately. Before going to the movie, I told myself to behave and read a different book. Go me. But I finished the darn thing on the train ride home that first day. Dang, people, I have to slow down on that. Anyway, so then without a new book to read, I went to the movies. After seeing the movie, I started book 7 the next morning. Finished it during lunch the second day. Double dang!

The problem lies with the fact that I have a 2 full hours of train riding a day to read and most of my books are devoured during this time.

I have been commanded to not discuss details of the story as my sis is still reading, so I won’t. But let me just say that I thoroughly enjoyed it.

As for the movie, I also liked that as well. I read a review that complained it was trying too hard to follow the book and thusly was too long and filled with unimportant things. To this I say, hogwash! How many times have you heard people complain that the movies are so different from the books that they hated it? Too many, that’s right. People just aren’t happy either way. In general, if you read the book first, you like that more. If you watched the movie first, then you like that more. I don’t care. I watch the movie for being what it is, and I read the book and love it for being what it is. The two entertainment formats have different requirements in order to be successful, and I am okay with that. However, in this case, it’s fun to me to see the little things they throw in the movie to match the book, so I say keep going the way you have for the last two movies.
